The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet
that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting
for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s
encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency
beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search
of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of
merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man
whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a
storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave
the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Glamour shots of carnival “freaks” of the 1800s were oddly touching
Throughout his career, Charles Eisenmann photographed thousands of sideshow performers seeking portraits for their résumés to send to carnival and circus publicists. These pictures oscillate between amusing ("the educated horse!") and bittersweet (there's something terrifically morbid about a man marketing his massively distended colon). But when you had a bad case of hypertrichosis (like Jojo The Dog-Faced Boy) or Milroy's disease (like giant-footed Fanny Mills, above), career options weren't legion.
Eisenmann began shooting sideshow performers in New York City prior to 1870. Explains Syracuse University of his practice:
A lower class area that was the hub of popular entertainment, the Bowery was known for its cheap photographic galleries and dime museums. Here Eisenmann discovered his clientele. Dime museums were modeled on P.T. Barnum's American Museum on Broadway which exhibited various human "curiosities" as well as many unusual and questionable "scientific" exhibits. Similar in many respects to the circus sideshows, these museums featured human "freaks" who displayed their odd physiognomies and performed before gawking visitors. To help these performers market themselves, Eisenmann and his successor Frank Wendt supplied them with small photographs that they could sell or distribute to publicists.
You can see hundreds more of Eisenmann's sideshow photographs at Syracuse University Library's Ronald G. Becker Collection. Here's a selection of his promotional photos.

Men in Black III (2012)
MOVIE INFO
In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back...in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him -- secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind. -- (C) Sony.
According to Rotten Tomatoes It isn't exactly a persuasive argument for the continuation of the franchise -- but Men in Black III is better than its predecessor and manages to exceed expectations, largely due to Josh Brolin's impressive performance.

RENESMEE MAKES HER DEBUT IN THESE NEW TWILIGHT BREAKING DAWNIMAGES
- The Happy FamilyWe hadn't been seeing much from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, the final installment of Stephenie Meyer's book turned movie franchise, until now. But boy, do we have a lot to show you now. MovieLine collected a slew of pictures from the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly that show Bella and Edward's child Renesmee, the vampire clans that come to witness her unusual progression, and Bella having fun with her own newfound powers by challenging Emmett to an arm wrestling match.
- Jacob and RenesmeeTaylor Lautner's Jacob and 11-year-old Mackenzie Foy's Renesmee have an awkward chat about imprinting.
- Does She Need Protection?I wonder if Renesmee is going to be this age at the beginning of the film or if they have a younger actress to show how quickly she grows.
- The Happy (?) FamilyYou can come up with your own captions for this awkward family photo.
- Fashionable Bella and RenesmeeInteresting how Bella starts wearing makeup and dressing like a fashionista after she's turned. Even when she's camping.
- Eleazar and CarmenTwo members of the Denali Coven we saw in Breaking Dawn Part 1.
- Senna and ZafrinaThe Amazon Coven (minus Kachiri) examining Renesmee. I'm super interested to see how much we actually get of all the covens and their power sets. I'm guessing a lot since there's not much story left to tell.
- Kate and TanyaAlso of the Denali Coven.
- Jane and AlecThose troublemakers.
- Emmett and BellaPossibly my most anticipated scene in the entire film. Bella exploring her new strengths.Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits theaters November 16.
